Hi. I have a muscovy hen that had her nest destroyed most likely by a raccoon and hurt her leg in the process.
I think it is fractured just below the ankle. She will not put any weight on it. The leg below the ankle is hot and very swollen. I can feel movement of the bone in there that I do not believe to be normal. She has it up behind her. I found her yesterday morning. This morning it is more swollen and the web between her toes have changed color slightly. She has what looked like a small cut on the front side of the leg where I now think it could be broken. It was a bleeder. I cleaned it and tried to seal it with blue coat yesterday. I also noticed she has a lump on her middle toe that maybe bumble foot although it doesn't totally match the pics I've seen. I gave her foot a soak in some Epson salts to start to loosen any scab to get in there.
What can I do for the leg?
Should I leave the pre existing condition alone until the leg gets better?
She is isolated. Drinking and eating.

Hi
No it is from the blue coat I used to seal up the cut. That stuff gets everywhere. My hand is the same color.
Ok. I almost asked if it was blue kote. Without knowing how to properly splint, I would still suggest the vet. I imagine she is in pain with that much swelling. But, maybe someone else will have other suggestions.

The bottom does look like bumblefoot. I think you have to pick it out and soak it in Epsom salts, but don't let her drink the water.
