That is so cool that you got eggs that early! Just wondering do EE just lay green eggs or a variety of colors? My first layer was my Hoover’s Hatchery EE that laid a little green egg at 18 weeks. The rest of my girls didn’t lay for another 2-4 weeks.
Thankyou for voting ! Plymouth Rocks are very pretty birds!I have Plymouth Rocks purchased on July 15th. The first egg came day after Thanksgiving. It's 1/10 and so far 21 are laying.
That is so cool that you have rescue chickens !I voted! My Barred Rocks and SL Wyandottes (3 of each) began at 18-19 weeks. Not sure how old my other gals were, they were either rescues or purchased from a breeder/ hatcher.
Thanks so much for voting! Please tell friends about this poll and ask them to vote as well!My chickens started laying at 18 weeks. They're Novogen brown layers.![]()
Wow ! And thanks for voting! Having had chickens that long must be amazing.I believe my black sexlinks began to lay before 20 weeks. Not sure exactly what week. That was 3 yrs ago lol. But they were early layers.
That is super early! Congrats! Sussex are beautiful birdsMy chicks lay 1st eggs at 18 weeks from hatch Date, they are all speckled Sussex
Wonderful name , love it!21 weeks! First hen was a black sex-link named, Pepper Ann
I have one pullet (Orpington ) and she has not so much an undeveloped crest as much as a small one she was doing the squat this morning im expecting eggs soonThis was difficult because my first hen to lay (red star) was 20 weeks, but my other three matured in the winter so started/will start when the daylight comes back this spring, so I chose the last option. My only other laying currently (an Australorp) started a few days ago, at 35 weeks, which honestly I thought would be later since it's still winter here. As for my other two, my black star looks physically mature with crest and all but hasn't started but my Rhode Island red still looks like a young pullet with an undeveloped crest. Not sure what that means, since she's supposed to be old enough by now. (She was the smallest when I bought them--they were all 14 weeks then.)
Cool thanks so much for voting!Barred Rock early, like 16ish weeks, but several Brahma and light Sussex crosses and rhode island red were more 22-24 weeks
