Egg Swap, New Shipper Wanting to Test Packaging!

Shoot, no I'm not :th
At least not yet. I had so much mixed information when I tried looking that up. Some said you needed it, some said only for out of state, some said only for shipping to certain states. I had quite a few people tell me it was only required for shipping live chicks, which is the understanding I had gone with. :he

Guess you can't believe everything you hear on the internet, but I guess I should have already known, lol. Darn. Changes my plans around quite a bit.

Yeah, you could ship in state without it, but anything going out of state - eggs, chicks, adults - you need to be NPIP certified for. The post office doesn't seem to enforce it at all, but technically by law you have to be.

And since I am, I can't get any eggs or birds from anyone that isn't :( I can sell to anyone, but can only get eggs and birds from NPIP sources or I lose my certification.

I completely understand that, no worries. Man am I indecisive now. I'm definitely not one to knowingly break rules, I was just so excited to be able to start shipping! Poo. Guess I'll have to sit on that. I've seen both NPIP and non certified when purchasing eggs online, I never realized ALL of those people were legally supposed to have it

Well, the PO doesn't really enforce the rule, so technically you could still ship eggs.

But, this is a list of what is required to ship to each state by law. A 9-3 form is pretty much required for all of them with the exception of five. So you could ship to those five without breaking any rules.

THANK YOU!! I will definitely read into that. I guess eventually I may ship privately to people IF they fully understand me not being certified and what all goes along with that. I'm very glad you mentioned NPIP certified only being able to trade with others, I certainly wouldn't want to be the cause of anyone losing theirs.

Of course being honest best policy in some cases you know been hatching out my own eggs oh I forgot have campine slw icelandics too

Well, if you're NPIP, which I am, they come out and test your birds and they have a list of what breeds you have. So, if when testing comes up next time and you have a breed that you didn't have before and no proof you got it from an NPIP source...

I show, so I need my NPIP certification for that. If I lose it, I can't show. Better for me to stick to NPIP sources so I don't lose it. Plus I joined the program because I wanted to follow the rules :)

Sorry, didn't mean to turn this thread into an NPIP discussion, lol.

These will be three weeks old
