#6 pipped a bit ago. This is what I'm used to with the Delawares, most hatching by the time Day 21 rolls around. That darn Flukers thermometer was the cause of the less than stellar hatch last time. It read too high and made me turn down my thermostat. This time, I used it only for humidity and it has read 101.5-102.5 the entire time. If I was depending on that, I'd have turned down the heat too low. So, those units you put in the bator, as I've always said, will lose accuracy after a few hatches.

Incubators will get you in trouble, Reva, LOL. I usually like to wait for a broody, but you can't put 30 eggs under a broody, even the big girls!

I grew up on a dairy farm, where the consolation for the death of one beloved pet was that I could always turn around and find several others ( kittens, calves, puppies, foals) waiting in line for love. I am sorry for your loss, Cynthia. It's never easy. But NEW LIFE!!!! GO DELLIE BABIES!!!!

Took my grandson to the chicken swap in Jasper Saturday and had a great time lots of fun people there. Any way he sold traded 3 Bantams my mom gave him for a total of 30 birds!!! 10 black giant pullets 10 Quail 2 silkie roosters and 8 mixed rooster, he then traded the roosters for 2 RR hens 1 Domnicker hens and 1 Amercina i was so pround of him he is only 9 I have 30 eggs in the Hovabator that will go on lock down this Friday being as this is my first hatching do you recommend using egg cartons or not, i don't even know what kind of eggs they are other than they are brown a friend gave them to me so it will be a suprise, he won't tell me where they came from.

Larry, I've never used egg cartons to hatch. I just lay them on their sides like they'd be under a mother hen. Some like them, though. Sounds like you had a great day! With Skye dying and other things, just wasn't a good day for me to go.
