Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

I ate fruit obsessively all the way through my pregnancy... it was the only thing I could keep down. I never got constipated, and that's probably why.

Ms.FuzzyButts :

Uhm, what do you all do for constipation? I made some steamed broccoli and cauliflower with dinner tonight. I am hoping that may help some. I wasn't expecting this problem so early in the game.

And I just got my prenatal vitamins today, and that is one of it's possible side effects too.. Oh yay!!

Ooh yah, as if pregnancy wasn't bad enough on our bowels, the Iron in the prenatles does a job on us too!

I myself got pretty used to just going every couple of days, but the problem is that for me, once I finally have to go, I have to go NOW! My stomach starts cramping really bad, and I get Nauseas, sorry TMI. I did try prunes, but I love them, so I ended up eating like 10, then had the worst bowel cramps of my life, I was actually in tears, but they worked. I told hubby that if I can't handle some constipation mixed with prunes, there is now way I will be able to labor without an Epidural,

Now I am back to going daily, but it's still not the most comfortable task

Thanks, I think I might try all of the suggestions... Whatever it takes because this is day two of it and it is driving me insane.. My belly hurts and it makes me not want to eat. And if I do eat something, it makes me feel miserable.

FiberOne bars. No kidding, they help. "Oats and Chocolate" is my favorite.

Just don't get the reduced calorie ones. Bleck...

Edit: I should mention these help more as a maintenance kinda thing, if you're having a serious issue this will take time to help.

For immediate... I alway found Activia *ahem* helped things along. It was less agrivating than an actual lacsative but it always made things happen. That's why I STOPPED eating it, actually.

Try some Raisin Bran at night before you go to bed.

OMG, those things are wonderful but they gave me gas like I've never had before. I think I could have powered a hot air balloon after eating those!

Sorry, but I already had it bad enough with just being pregnant that I didn't notice a difference! But now that you mention it, I think it DID make the gas worse. Sure kept things moving though!

My doctor said I can use Metamucil. I haven't had that issue (yet)...quite the opposite. I am usually over-active in that area (like 4-6 times per day). I have noticed I'm down to about 3-4 times per day but still going lots and nothing really solid. Sorry, TMI but yeah....I have been eating lots of fruit, fruit smoothies and Special K cereal. Hmmm....Frosted Mini Wheats sound really good right now! LOL

I second the fruit! I was having trouble at the beginning and for the last few weeks I have been chowing on grapes. (unfortunatly they seem to be me "craving" cause they are expensive!)

I also think moving around helps...I have been forced to be more active since the snow is here. Nothing like old time living keeping me in shape with trips to get wood, shovel snow and taking care of the animals. but on second thought...this is how I re-injured my spine the other day. Now I am forced to ask for help since I re-injured my disc

I am trying not to complain cause it's my fault

I found fiber one bars to give me too much gas...painful gas, I used to eat them all the time but had to stop.
Yogurt is good cause it keeps the natual balance of things

I love Raisin Bran... But all I have in the house right now is some Frosted Flakes.

I have also been eating fruit.. Apples, grapes and watermelon. I think it's helping a little!! I don't feel as bad as I did..
