Ramen Noodles

Same here...normally don't care to eat those things but have been fighting the urge to eat them every day. The swelling from all the sodium is what keeps me from actually giving in though.

...

Does milk count? I'm going through a gallon every three days.

I had to go back in to the OB today to have my pap smear and to go over my bloodwork from Thursday... My doc was giving my the lowdown on having a baby after the age of 35 and how the baby has a 1 in 264 chance of having Down Syndrome or a 1 in 100 chance of having some other genetic anomoly because I am 36 and if I want anymore after this, the babys' chances would be slimmer as I got older..... But that there was still a good chance this baby would be normal..... And that I needed to go ahead and have genetic testing so I would know what the baby's odds are in case it isn't good I can abort or decide to go ahead with it... WTH??? I know it's her job to inform me of any and everything... but good grief!!

It's my first baby... Why bring up doom and gloom.. Why not just slip the test in the next time she draws blood and if something is wrong, then drop the bomb.... But did she have to rain on my parade today????

for you. Try not to worry to much about those tests. Those are just odds they have to give out to everyone over a certain age. And I think they have to have your permission to perform certain tests so thats why they tell you about them.

To the DR. for freaking you out. NOBODY needs that kind of stress!! You and baby WILL be fine!

So, does anyone else suffer from a heightened sense of smell?? Seems llike I can smell every yucky scent for miles around today- driving me nuts!

Thank you Suzette.. That's what I keep trying to tell myself.. But it sounds better coming from someone else.

OH YES!!!! I have super sonic smelling abilties... Subway is a no no... Sensory overload!!! Wal-Mart smells like one big giant, new package. I normally like the new smell. Not so much so now!! Oh, and my hubbys cologne that I once called horny water, smells awful to me now!!!

My sence of smell got stronger, but not super bad! But today hubby was eating some cheese that smells like feet, and I was across the room, and could smell it!

I'm sorry!!

Don't worry, you're not THAT old!! I wouldn't stress about it too much. I personally refused all the extra testing because there's too high a risk of false negatives. I know a LOT of people who got back a test which said they had a 1 in 6 chance of a Down's baby, or some other abnormality and their babies were born perfectly fine. One in 100 is still a VERY long shot for you.

If you did get the test and do get poor results, please, please, please go get an amnio so you can be 100% sure something is wrong (or not) before you stress too much. Like I said, the risks of a false positive are VERY high.

Good luck!

I know it's scary, but try not too worry too much. The doc is just doing his job. I'm sure he's afraid someone will sue him if he DOESN'T go over that stuff...you know how sue happy all the stupid people are these days. I was only 25 when I got pregnant with mine and I still had all the testing done. As someone said, if it comes back suspicious you can have an amnio done, where there are no false anythings, before you make any decisions. Even if you wouldn't decide to abort, it's better to know ahead of time so the docs can be prepared for life-saving measures at birth. All that being said, I'm sure your baby will be just fine.

It scared the crap out of me to have HIV testing done, even though I KNOW that DH has been my only partner for 10 years...irrational fear, but real until I got those test results back.
