Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

So when to our first birthing class tonight, I thought I would be board, but I actually had a lot of fun and learned some good techniques, looking forward to the next 3 classes.

But when I got home I read on Facebook that my friend had to have an emergency C-Section this morning, at just 31 weeks. Mom and Baby Lilly are doing well, baby is 4 lbs, and on CPAP, but otherwise doing very well.

It's just crazy to think that 31 weeks is less than 2 weeks away for me, I'm looking around my house and I am not even close to ready, I pray that he stays in there until he's due, but Man do I need to get ready!

I'm a long way from birthing class. But we have started making room for the baby. Spent last weekend purging a spare bedroom of all of my memorabilia from childhood through highschool.. Also known as junk. I hadn't looked through any of those boxes since I moved out of my parents house.. I had a blast looking through it all, but was absolutley surprised at most of the crap that I had kept. I reduced half a room full of junk to 3 tiny little boxes. Boxes maybe the size that diapers come in. I am 36 and have been housing unnecessary junk since leaving the nest.. I am not a hoarder. But must have been prior to moving out of mom -n- dad's house.. LOL So with all of my newfound space, we were able to set up the crib that used to be my husbands when he was a wee one.. And I scored a nice changing table on craiglist for $40 today. So I have those 2 things and a dresser ready to go. Don't know why though.. Still have to paint the walls, so we are gonna have to take it all back out..

I've got 6 months left to do it... But since I am in the mood to throw stuff away now, I need to move on to another room and keep going until the whole house is atleast 10 years lighter.

Oh, please be careful using and older crib. Most were painted with baaad paint back in the day, so if it hasnt been re-habbed, you might want to think about it. Also, please check and double check all springs, bolts, screws, and runner tracks- they get old and can be a hazard. The rails are often too far apart on older cribs and pose a threat of trapping a babies head and the mattress's of today often dony fit an older crib the right way.

Sorry to spook ya, I just didnt know if you already knew about all the warnings out about older cribs (and used baby items too- many have been recalled due to safety issues), I'm just trying to help!

Also, you might want to check the following website for recalled baby stuff if you're buying anything second hand. http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prerel.html
