pass me anything I might be missing from not taking the class, decided not to do it since everyone I spoke with had not taken one and did just fine. I couldn;t see paying for the class and having to take time off work for the class. That would have cost me too much.
no worries kelsey, even if we did give birth in the next few weeks our boys wont NEED a room right away, as nice as it would be to have it all set up. But on that thought....I think I will skip doing something else today and go clean out his room so we can paint it!
I think once I get the dresser and crib set up I will feel a little better though. The time crunch does appear to be on!

We don't have to pay for the class, it's a free thing at our hospital in the evenings, but I think I would still get through labor without it, lol. But they did show us pain relieving techniques, and breathing exercises, this week was basically a review of what we are curently going through and how to cope, like back aches, leg cramps, exercise, eating healthy, Etc...

As for Lukes room, we were lucky, we had just moved into a 3 bedroom house a couple weeks before we found out we were expecting, so We claimed master bedroom, then the smallest room became a spare/office, and we had a third bedroom untouched, so by week 12 I had the 3rd bedroom set up with our Crib, then we bought a crib set and dressers. And I have been slowly decorating as I find under water theme decor I like. Now I just gotta wait for my shower to fill the room the rest of the way.

What I'm worried about is my completley Unorganized house! When DH and I moved here we were working 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, so we only had weekends at home, and honestly didn't do much. Then we switched to 12 hour days, 5 days a week, and managed to finally unpack, but the house is still very unorganized. So I keep thinking, OMG if I had Luke tomorrow, I would have all my family in my house, and this is what they would see!

But DH is working this weekend, and I have no plans on Sunday, so I am going to try to go into nesting mode, lol.

I'm a long way from birthing class. But we have started making room for the baby. Spent last weekend purging a spare bedroom of all of my memorabilia from childhood through highschool.. Also known as junk. I hadn't looked through any of those boxes since I moved out of my parents house.. I had a blast looking through it all, but was absolutley surprised at most of the crap that I had kept. I reduced half a room full of junk to 3 tiny little boxes. Boxes maybe the size that diapers come in. I am 36 and have been housing unnecessary junk since leaving the nest.. I am not a hoarder. But must have been prior to moving out of mom -n- dad's house.. LOL So with all of my newfound space, we were able to set up the crib that used to be my husbands when he was a wee one.. And I scored a nice changing table on craiglist for $40 today. So I have those 2 things and a dresser ready to go. Don't know why though.. Still have to paint the walls, so we are gonna have to take it all back out..

I've got 6 months left to do it... But since I am in the mood to throw stuff away now, I need to move on to another room and keep going until the whole house is atleast 10 years lighter.

We are using the crib that was mine 24 years ago, then my cousins 18 years ago, then my Nieces 6 years ago, and finally my Nephews 4 years ago. My Sister in law had it all checked out and it's safe, and compared to cribs these days, this thing is a Rock! No plastic hardware, all metal, Sturdy real wood, and a family history to boot

Oh, please be careful using and older crib. Most were painted with baaad paint back in the day, so if it hasnt been re-habbed, you might want to think about it. Also, please check and double check all springs, bolts, screws, and runner tracks- they get old and can be a hazard. The rails are often too far apart on older cribs and pose a threat of trapping a babies head and the mattress's of today often dony fit an older crib the right way.

Sorry to spook ya, I just didnt know if you already knew about all the warnings out about older cribs (and used baby items too- many have been recalled due to safety issues), I'm just trying to help!

Oh, don't worry. It has been refurbished a few times over the years. It was originally stained a dark walnut color, and then painted who knows what all colors as it was passed through the family. As soon as we found out we were having a baby, Dh pulled it out of the attic and repainted it. And the rails are barely 2 inches apart, federal regualtions call for no more than 2 3/8 inches apart. Trust me, I checked it first!! There's no way I want to put my baby in danger just because something is a family heirloom. I can already feel my protective motherly instincts over this baby kicking in big time!! Thank you for the heads up though!!!! I could have just as easily been oblivious to all of this.. You just never know!

So, today me and my husband decided we couldn't wait until Monday to know for sure, so I went into the doctor's office as a walk-in. Pregnancy was confirmed to be at around 4 weeks with a due date around 11/4. First "real" appointment will be March 23rd.

Headed to my second appointment in a matter of moments! DH can't join me on this one because he has to work. I am hoping I get to hear the heartbeat!
