Well it was 120 last time (didn't hear it just saw it on the ultrasound). My friend's son was 176bpm at this age--so who knows? LOL Time seems to be going pretty fast....I am still not sure about this! LOL

I had been freaking out about the whole thing until just a few weeks ago. I spent the 1st 6 months wondering "what have I done?" and now that I can feel him moving all the time and having the baby shower coming up I feel more prepared. Now that I am not in freak out mode, my DH, who has been so excited the whole time...is now freaking out like I had been. Funny how that works.
This may be odd to say, but I thank him for coming along and straightening me up a bit (as reluctant as I was).

Anyone else actually looking forward to maternity leave? I know it wont be exactly peaceful, but it will be so nice to have that time just me and my son.

Yeah I'm sort of in freak out mode right now...worried about work, money, the baby's room, etc....we have an 18 year old boy living with us (one of DH's students who was in a horrible situation and really wants to graduate)...so that's added stress and expense...I can't believe how much an 18 year old boy eats!!!

Is anyone doing the FMLA? I think it's up to 3 months or something....one my friends/co-workers got screwed though because she had to go on bed rest at 7 months so that started her time then...so she only got about a month with her son after he was born.

We only get 6 weeks for maternity leave and then the FMLA can kick in....

Do any of you get genetically tested? I was asked today if I wanted any tests...one is a pee, one is blood and one is a big-@ss needle to get fluid from the uterus. All of them testing for different genetic diseases and Down's Syndrome.

I made a comment to the doctor--like, isn't it a little late to do anything at this point IF there was an issue? I mean--we're kind of stuck now....and she agreed but said that it would give us time to prepare & plan....

We have no family history of Down's or any other genetic issues and I'm fairly young (30 and DH is 31) so she said we're considered low risk.

Just wondering....and probably being a little paranoid, too.

I personally chose not to get those tests, primarily because there is a HUGE chance of a false positive with any/all of them (except amniocentesis - but that has a risk of miscarriage). My husband and I plan on keeping this baby regardless of whether or not there's anything wrong with it, so I didn't see much of a point, and I didn't want to stress out over bad test results when the baby was highly likely to be normal despite them.

Its a very personal decision though - I fully support any woman's right to have these tests done if she chooses.

I got the blood test. Mostly I was just wanting a heads up on any extra preperations I might have needed to do. The other thing is that those same tests look at things that can be fixed/repaired in the womb or immediatly after birth(spina bifida for one).

That is what I was flipping out over.. I have about decided I don't want the test. Neither of us have any family history of those things either.. She showed me the chart for my risk.. I found it funny that up until 35, you are pretty safe, but somehow magically once you hit 36 it starts going to heck in a handbasket??? I see no sense in knowing now. I do much better with last minute information than I do when I have to plan for anything. SO, I think I shall pass on genetic testing.

Sure Deb..... What on earth are you going to do with all them babies at once???

I have no freakin idea. I am in shock to be honest. Two were accidents and one was IVF. Two are not past the "safe" point yet, and one has miscarried several times. However her doctor thinks this one will stick because she has made it further that ever before and the heartbeat is strong. She is 9 weeks, the other is 6 weeks and the IVF one is 12 1/2 weeks.
