ok I looked again at the math. in the AM with some coffee in me! If i'm understanding right: Capt. Jacks needs approx 88ml capt. jacks to = one elector dose. so if 5mg : 1ml then that would be 17.6 tsp or 5 TBS to 1 gal. Which is way higher than what i did before.I'm funny about number, lol, and enjoy doing a little math.Elector PSP is 44.2% (442 mg spinosad per 1 ml), and it's supposed to be mixed at ~9 ml per gallon.
9 x 442 = ~3978 mg per spinosad per gallon
Your Captain Jack's is 0.5% (5 mg per one ml). Does that make sense?
THANK YOU! They are determined bugs!!Good job working on getting the mites gone.

88x seems about right, but I'm not following you past that.ok I looked again at the math. in the AM with some coffee in me! If i'm understanding right: Capt. Please feel free correct my math if you find error. Thank you!

So lets look at this another way.
1 ml of Capatain's = 5 mg
1 ml 0f Elector = 442 mg
442/5 = 88.4, yes? So 88.4 ml of CJ = 1 ml of Elector?
target dose of spinosad per gallon is ~3978 mg.
So 5 tablespoons of CJ = 375 mg (15 ml per tablespoon x 5 tablespoons x 5 mg)
If you want to use CJ add 757 ml (25.6 ounces) Captain Jack's to 3028 ml (102 ounces) water.
Do you understand now why we were kinda insisting that you use permethrin?
It's crazy huh!
I can wait to see what your vet has to say!
Have fun cleaning!
Sorry to hear that you haven't heard back. Hope you hear soon.No word from the vet yet. Frustrated. My chicken is not going to be high on the priority listHopefully tomorrow AM. She had sad chicken tail today. I cleaned, and cleaned the coop today. Gonna go make the drive to town, and get more Epson salt tomorrow. I'm hoping i'll hear back from the vet and have some antibiotics or something to pick up. At least giving her a bath makes me feel like i'm doing something. The largest spot under her vent sticks out so much it just catches all the poop. This morning they looked less red :/ The coop, roost, nestboxes, bedding, along the corners of the floor, and All chickens got a solid dose of captain jacks. sprayed their butts, under wings, and feet. They all hate me now. Have a good night. It's nice to know there are chicken people out there kinda in this with me. Poor Vern.
