Not exactly - unpasteurized ACV is not a mother,unpasteurized ACV contains a "mother" culture .

As for using your kombucha , ny understanding is it is a yeast ferment - which I would think would produce alcohol.

I do not use anything to "start" and I usually have a good ferment going in just a day or so.
 
I had good luck fermenting the feed...started with a little ACV and got a good ferment...the problem, my chicks loved it the 1st couple of days, wasn't all that excited the 2nd and 3rd day but did eat it, ate very little the 4th day and would not touch it the 5th day. They are 6 weeks old and also had regular crumbles available all the time. I will probably try it again when they get a little older...I was using the regular starter crumbles to ferment.

did u make a new batcb or add in some interesting flavors for them

How often are y'all washing out your buckets? I was seeing the mother film on top last week, I left some as starter, but I did add a feed w/ a slightly higher protein... Now I'm not seeing it.
