First Emu Egg- Need Help!

Quote:
I didn't even see them sitting on them, I read there should be more eggs for the male to sit.Hubby went to get pine needles for them, we will see what happens with the second egg.
When do you usually take the eggs,in the beginning so they continue laying or when there are at least 5-8 eggs in the nest? I would like to hatch couple of them in the bator, when I buy one.
Thanks again for your reply

When he had about 5 or so I marked them, then when she laid a new one in the nest I picked up that one... and so on. After he gets so many, they will break the new ones I'm told..... mine has about 8 under him now.

,I picked up an egg to clean it and Harley came up to me,I gotta tell you that scared me. I put it on the ground and told him:" Here, your egg is safe" He started covering it with specks of sand and small twigs. We placed it in the new nest and walked away,in seconds it was covered up with hay and pine needles. But what is interesting, the other male Don King was also there covering the nest,I guess they can not decide who is the father LOL.
Does your Emu get up at all to eat? Do you provide some food or water,or not? Thanks

everyone would share their pictures and I have nothing. Then one day I found one egg, in 3 days another one. As the second egg appeared they started building the nest now she lays every day.
I have another female that does not lay any yet, so I am waiting to see whats going to happen. I did see them breeding

I wish I had my camera with me.
Have your emus layed eggs before? Have you seen them breeding?

No I just got them last winter as adults the lady I got them from had the 2 years but kept them in a small area. They didn't lay for her but she said they had laid w/previous owners. I have not seen them breed but today I saw Patrick covering a plastic bottle w/leaves. Is there a way to tell that they are breeding?
