Morning all.....glad to see everyone in the path of the storm coming through ok so far. Looks like we will get our taste of it all the way up here tomorrow. ....you ready for the rain @granny hatchet ? Looks like it won't be to bad, certainly not on par with when Ike blew through, good thing as a week workout power is no fun. Guess I better haul a round bale out to the horse tonight before the rain turns the field to swamp. Had to laugh when Ike hit, had lived on the NC coast for 3 years and not one hurricane....move to Indiana and BAM!

have seen the news 2 days ago .. 2 inches of rain ? no i am not ready . I hate when the coop floods . smells like crap til it dries out. 2 in. will sure do that.

People can be real @$$e$. We had a Dr who moved in 2 streets behind us. He called the cops on my kids trespassing on his next door neighbors (they had permission and was she mad at him). He called the cops again because he didn't like the way we parked in our own driveway. And he turned me in to zoning for a junk car. I was driving it. Their kids told mine that their parents said our house was a dump and should be torn down (they had brand new $300K house).

I know it hurts but keep your chin up. Maybe they will move.

Got a little more done. Gonna rest and go back to it if I can. Someone come by yesterday and seen it. They were picking on it to the kids. Kids told what this person said. Kinda hurt my pride a little. I think they said things because they would've went out and bought nice material to build a coop with. Some people need to realize just because they can afford to go buy great building supplies that not everyone can. I feel like these people look down on me because I like chickens and can't afford to go out and buy what I need. They've made the comment why did I buy chickens and squinted their nose up before. Told the kids I ruined a perfectly good swing set. But about a month ago offered to take the ragged swing set to the dump for me. Sorry for complaining. It just nd a hurt my feelings and needed to get it off my chest. I started just to stop working on it after I heard that but I can't. The chicks will need a home before long no matter what it looks like. Ok done complaining now.

My very own DH talks trash about the tractor that I built. And that's ok. Because at the end of the day I met a need with my own hands, and didn't spend a penny in the process.

How are you feeling today red? Imagine your still pretty sore after working on the coop this weekend.

I've got inside work that I have to finally do. Laundry is backed up, the house needs a once over & I have 10 squash that need to be precessed. So lots of time in the torture chamber today

I'm doing OK red, thank for asking. Was very sore all day yesterday & last night trying to get to sleep was a little difficult, but once my sleep med kicked in I went down.

Thanks y'all. I know many people are like that and there's nothing we can do about it. And newfie that's terrible. That's one thing that upset me about this . Putting the kids in it. My boy helped me with yesterday and he come up with the idea of using the ladder as the nesting area. I told him it was a good idea and saved us some material that we needed in other places. So we went with it. My thoughts about it was, easy clean up and won't rot like wood. He was so proud because we used some of his ideas. These people don't even want to listen to his ideas. He told me that himself before. I know it hurts his feelings more so than mine. Personally to be ten, I think he can come up with some great ideas . I've been encouraging him and using some of his ideas because some are good and it should help build his self confidence. To have them shoot him down like that gets under my skin.

I am very frugal. DD is always wanting to go to do it center for materials. I plan and gather materials that we have. That is the fun part to me. I'm already thinking about materials to build a pig sty for the kunekunes i don t have yet. Red i like your idea and wish i had a swingset to make me a coop so i could get some candycorn polish like granny has.
