Lost another chick. 21 speckled sussex babies left. I'm going to use some of the "tricks" to see if I can get them separated into roos/pullets.

why are you losing them Camping ? too many together ? are they on medicated feed ? sorry. those are so pretty. This bug going around my house is not going away. Too many in one house. snotty kids , hand washing almost nonexistent. My house is never clean. This place is over 2000 square ft. and not a clear path to walk anywhere. even my own bedroom. When DD asked me if it was ok to share my closet i didnt think she meant the floor. YUP, Just took all her clothes and threw them in the floor. plenty of room and hangers to use. It used to be a walk-threw closet. its a trip on closet now.

Too many, I think. And I forgot to turn the light on a few times, so maybe they got cold and crushed together. They're on flock raiser. It's the first time I've started chicks on flock raiser. I have electrolytes and probiotics in the water.

flock raiser is what i feed all mine. Dont think i have ever bought starter. guess the heat would do it. a timer maybe ? for the heat. I just read that Michigan has joined the ranks of no swaps or 4-h .

also have never used probiotics or electrolights. Not sure why new babies would need that ? If you have to turn the lights on and off maybe you can find a stable temp. for them somewhere even if its cold and just keep the lights on 24/7 ?

We're up in the 90s during the day, but it dips down to 60s-70s at night. I just turn on a regular red bulb at night, not heat lamp. I figured probiotics would help them keep good gut flora? And the electrolytes because it's been hot. They're on the back porch.

well, that all makes sense to me. I would try and hook up a timer at night if you can. my memory would have them all kicking the bucket in a week.

I didnt check the temps today but it called for a high of 61. we should be in the 80s. Im not complaining. LOL If i dont get some gas for the mower soon my yard is going to be classified a natural weed forest. Dont really care about that either. I have soo many daisys ! a yard of white and purple right now from the clover as well. It gets about 18 in. here with big purple blooms. the wild daylillys are getting ready, they are orange. a few of the flowers i have planted are trying to bloom yellow corisporis, purple coneflowers, Kataba trees, my weeping cheery that should of bloomed this spring and didnt is now trying to.

Figures, All the kids are gone and no one to chat with.

Woke up this am feeling like crap, drank a couple cups of coffee and went back to bed. I slept til 2:20 ! Not counting coffee this morning that was 15 1/2 hrs. woke up and the only one here was my chicken helper. He told his mom if she moves or not, he wishes to stay with me. said i need him, she has 5 others. LOL I didnt know what to say so i just smiled.
