well, I cant find it . LOL looking for some good gossip

Feeling kinda sad tonight. I had to get rid of two of my roosters. Now I've balanced my flock a little better. One roo with three hens. Planing on getting a few more hens. How long does it take the hens to establish a pecking order? I feel sorry for the new hen. Granny I just wanted you to know that I've started from the beginning reading this tread. I'm only on page 85 but I'm getting there. I love this tread. One more thing granny. I think you left me at the hospital when I was born lol. We sound too much alike lol. Hope everyone has a good night.

It's okay to feel a bit sad, but you did what was necessary and what is going to be better for all the birds (including the two that are no longer with you) in the long run. Did you introduce just the one? If so that can make things a bit rougher as there is only one "target" for the existing flock to focus on as they assert their dominance.

So, been looking at the flock extra hard this weekend thinking ahead to next weekend's swap - think I might take some birds, because I'm fairly certain I'll want to bring some home and I need to maintain the illusion of not gaining birds with DH. Of course, HE is the one who keeps coming home with names of more people who want to get on the egg list with us and he knows we are already at capacity as far as the "spare" eggs, so to add people to the list I have to add birds to the production line (or at least figure out who my freeloaders are and replace them with working girls). It's hard because the ones I find myself consistently putting at the top of the "gone" list are ones I know are actually laying right now - so that seems a bit counter-productive......but if I can replace them with some nice point-of-lay pullets..........
