The hubby has learned if he wants a good meal, he is gonna have to cook it himself! He has become quite the chef.

Yeah....we need one of those food-rac-a-cycles. Or like on Star Trek....a food Replicator. Just think about the food you desire, push a button and there it is....

You missed what happened with Lily. Granny always wanted a hound and a man was looking for a home for this dog. He made the dog sound wonderful, so granny took her on trial, the man saying he would take her back if it didn't work. When granny tried to return the dog (about a week later, I think), the man wouldn't take her back. So granny is stuck. Dog isn't a good fit and granny is too kind hearted to take her to the pound. No easy choices here.
Ah Ha!

because I am up for a challenge and she has never been taught anything. She has been passed along from one to the next because no one has tried. I want to give her a chance. my son is autistic, he had a therpy cat for about 13-14 yrs. I dont remember how long. it taught him to say I will miss you. to say love and to cry. he never changed its litter, he wont blow his nose he wont pick up messes. It makes him throw up. I took care of his cat all these many yrs. because i knew what it was doing for him. For him to even reach his hand out and touch this dog is pretty **** cool. she left my room today and headed straight for him. jumped on him waking him up and I heard a giggle. something i dont hear often. thats why she needs a chance and Robert helps some with her . its about all I will get from him for now. he stays up at night and would sleep through her potty times.
Well if you're up for a challenge...you're absolutely right. Dogs are labeled as bad, but no one ever tried to teach them good. At least, if you and Robert try to make a go of it, you will know you did your best if it just didn't work. Is it possible for you to try the house-training suggestions? I'm not suggesting tying her up or crating all day, only if she does not go outside or after 2 hrs loose to teach her that she can hold it. If she's never been in a house, she really has no idea that she can resist the urge. Do you have a dog crate?
I was thinking, If she's too much for you to leash walk, maybe a short tie out cable (say 10 ft) that you could hook her to right close to the door rather than holding the leash? Still stand out there to be ready to reward and unhook her as soon as she does her potty?
Or, do you have anything you could fashion into a "pen" to put her in till she goes?
Wish I lived up the road, I love a challenge too.

and that. LOL I tried to take a stray to the pound when I first moved here and they put me on a waiting list. never did call me back. I dont know if it is the same now or not.

You kill yourself shopping walking through those big stores, pay way more then its worth, come home and put it all away, spend the time cooking it then POOF gone in 60 seconds and your left with another big mess. I cant wait for the day pizza hut or just anyone will start delivery in my area !

Well layed my last grandparent to rest today. It was hard on us all but we all know she's in a better place with no pain. She had the same back surgery that I had. Didn't help her neither. I know she's glad to be pain free now. Really going to miss her.

so sorry roost..thats hard to do.we are here for you if you need to talk or anything

congrats danna ! I hope you love it !
Mutt, thanks for the links. the ASPCA was very nice. while reading i thought if I take her for a walk and ask Robert to come with, in case I cant. maybe he will like it and decide he will give it a go. after I "decide" I cant do it. LOL

You're welcome granny. I feel a little stuupid. It took me a bit to type it all out and find my links to try to help you after I got back on, I hit submit, and this dog training dissertation of mine dropped onto the page right in the middle of a grocery shopping discussion. Awkward...I felt like a

Hi @TwoCrows

Has it cooled off over there yet? It's a nice cool 98 here today. I would rather scrub the kennels with a toothbrush than buy groceries. (If I do that, I always fantasize that it's my ex-es). My own fault, I wait till there is nothing to make anything out of, then it's a day long project at the commissary and putting it all away.
