Pics
I decided to post some pictures of valik while she was enjoying life, an important part of death in my opinion is remembering the good times.
This picture right here was on sprinkler day. View attachment 1619480

A little bit about valik-
Valik was an amazing duck. She constantly followed me around and would even let me pick her up and cuddle. Valik always came running when she saw me and would quack to let me know she wanted her daily fruits and veggies.Valik liked to stare at our pond but didn’t like swimming in it and preferred swimming in the 3 pools with clean water we had.
She did everything with her best friend Jenny and they even tried to hatch the same clutch of eggs together.Jenny is definitely feeling the loss of valik and even snuggled with her in her final moments.
I had been getting ready to put her to rest when I found out nothing could be done. When I went to do the deed I saw that she had passed peacefully cuddle up next to Jenny.
Thank you all for your time and help in my hour of need. God bless you all.
Thank you for taking the time to share your memories and photos of Valik with us.
What a lovely girl she was.
I'm very sorry for your loss:hugs

@Quackers3211 , You obviously had a very special bond with this beautiful girl. Thank you for allowing us to share a little bit of that with you. Remember, the amount of grief we feel when we lose a loved one, is equal to the amount of love that we had for them. My hope for you is that you always remember that love, and the beautiful bond you shared.

I don’t know if anyone is here but I saw that this was sorta an emergency thing so could I just sorta ask something. One of my girls was fine last night but this morning I came out and saw that she pooped egg or something, she hadn’t layed egged for a while before that and I think I she is lethargic and constipated. Although she is continuously drinking she water and she just wants to hide. I’m really scared! Any suggestions?

Hi @Buffy18 I'm sorry to hear about your hen.
If you can start a new thread in the ER forums you will get more help and your answers won't be intermingled with replies to this particular thread.
On your new thread, if you have photos of your hen, her poop and you can describe the symptoms you see, that would be helpful.

What did the egg material look like—cooked egg or runny raw yolk and egg whites? How old is your hen? Many hens can suffer from reproductive disorders, such as internal laying, egg binding, impacted oviduct, salpingitis, and egg yolk peritonitis.

Can hou insert a finger into her vent an inch and feel for a stuck egg? They can lay shell-less eggs or thin shelled eggs that may get stuck or break inside. They can also lay eggs inside the abdomen instead of normally expelling them from the vent. Symptoms of internal laying can include a dirty vent, swollen lower belly, loss of weight, no appetite, separating themselves from the flock, waddling, or walking more upright, and other symptoms. Make sure that she is pooping, since egg binding can prevent them from pooping. If you feel a stuck egg, give her a human calcium tablet or Tums, or cook a whole egg shell and all, and grind it up in a food processor, and feed it to her. Then give her a shallow warm soak in warm water for 20 minutes to try and lay the egg.

The egg looked raw and she isn’t pooping so could it be a stuck egg? It looked like egg whites and she is six months old. Should I give her the Tums and could it kill her if she doesn’t lay it

Confine her in a basket or dog crate, and put puppy pads or an old towel inside to catch droppings. Check inside her vent for an egg. Give her some calcium, and then try soaking her in a warm tub for 20 minutes to relax her. Afterward, dry her with a towel and blow her dry so she doesn’t chill. If she has a shell-less egg stuck it can be hard to pass. I would go ahead and start a new thread if you can for more views and less confusion. I will check back in the AM. Others may chime in as well, including Wyorp Rock.
