I ordered 15 chicks and only 7 came to me ALIVE. So she is my last blue silkie and my favorite, so please help. Do i have to put her down? Thank you.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X5 on take her to the vet if you can, and try posting on the Emergencies board for what to do until then. Good luck with her.

I had a bird come in with a hurt leg. The other chicks were pecking it to death. We separated it from the other chicks and gave fresh water, food and heat. It soon recovered and is doing very well.

ok, cover her head so she wont get frightened. then gently take her leg and stretch it out as it should go normally, try straighten her leg, if its sideways, and then bandage it genty after cleaning surface. after use popsicle sticks to splint leg, one on either side then use some bandage tape to keep them on. I would keep her in a separate pen so she wont have to fight for food or use too much energy or leg. and after 3-4ish days let her out on still day to run with other hens. keep an eye on her. hope this helps. and my chick just boke her toe and dad wants to chop it off, I say no way! but its bleeding and im a little puzzled over wat to do about that.

cute!! your lucky you have all those breeds, dad will only let me have 8 when the chicks leave, and they have to be good egg layers so I have to sell my silkey X bantam baby girls. their so beautiful, sigh. dads these days. and we cant get marans in nz , so their on my wish list!

Unless you know how to set a broken leg , or have chicken farmers near you (who may know how)I would take her to a vet
