Help! My duck has leg issues!

I think we'll have to agree to disagree again. :barniePretty sure many hatcheries sell "pet quality" ducks.:th

As for what the duck needs, I think people will find that most ducks need this:

Anyway, I think this thread is starting to go way off topic and these last few posts are not relevant to the problem the OP has.

Well. What many don't understand is Birds come in categories...Duel Purpose, meat and layers. No pet category for Ducks. Ornamental Ducks are different.
Same as Chickens. A Meat Chicken doesn't make a great layer.

PLEASE don't tell my Pekin that - she doesn't know she's a meat bird and gives me an egg a day

Hi Justin and welcome,
I read this post earlier and couldn't think of a good material for a splint that would be comfortable for this little guy to wear for a long period.

But then low and behold whilst looking for something completely different this popped up-

obviously they are too big for your little guy BUT you could adapt a neoprene dog harness into one for the short term and in the long term, I am sure if you were to talk to one of the lovely businesses who make duck shoes and nappy harnesses they could come up with a permanent fix for your little guy that would be a comfortable prosthetic to wear for his otherwise perfect little life.

Hope this helps, Cheers!

@Teesha thabk you very much! We bought a few things today that we are going to try just for short term while we figure out something long term. He’s been great still isn’t showing any signs of pain just trying not to put weight on his leg. The vet did say other than his legs he is 100% healthy so I really appreciate all the helpful comments. The vet wasn’t technically a poultry vet so when she said put him down my girlfriend was heartbroken but after talking to all you of very helpful people I have faith that crackers will be okay haha!
