Hi!!! New here to this page and was wondering if anyone has experienced this before? We have a total of 7 backyard chickens we have had them for about a year and a half now! We noticed one has been laying weird eggs and we caught her in the act this morning and now know for sure which one it is. We cleaned her bottom after noticing what was going on and when we put her put to dry off we found this spot on her chest. She is molting a little above this area. Anyone know what this is or how we can go about making her feel better?!?!?!

View attachment 3698788these are the eggs she has been laying. She is molting only on her neck which is a couple of inches from the red area on her chest.
Can you cut those eggs open and let us see what they look like inside?
Also load your photos full size.

Red area on breast, is her crop emptying?

Molting only on her neck - please post some clear photos of all of her along with her neck where she's molting, another of the red area of the breast from the front.

The odd eggs look like they may be Lash Eggs, a.k.a. Salpingitis which is inflammation of the oviduct. Sometimes you can treat symptoms with an antibiotic, but often the condition is chronic.

Look her over for lice/mites, see that her crop is emptying. A red breast like that and molting only on her neck to me sounds like she's being plucked - she may be doing that herself and/or others are picking at her too.

How does she act overall - normal, lethargic?
