Oh, yes! Forgive me if I made my parents seem neglectful of our birdies. That's not the case at all.
We've a chicken run that's 4×8 and covered on three sides with wire mesh.
The duckies have 16×8 with the same.
It would seem the raccoons are as wily as anything. They managed to climb up the side, rip the screen off the (space allotted for a cross breeze), and lay waste to the flock. That was our first loss since the initial flock that we allowed (foolishly) to free range through the day when she's at work. They were picked off one by one, and Mama cried each time.
I perhaps should have said we're not in a good spot to make further capital investment
