The silkie feathers are recessive. To be a silkie it needs the gene from both parents.
Its that simple. Your chick has something besides a silkie for a parent.
It didn't come out with normal feathers because its too many generations removed from a silkie.
Doesn't matter how many generations removed it is. They don't go from silkie to none silkie like that.
Either they get the genes or they don't. That one clearly didn't get two copies.
