How long do broiler chickens live? As pets

Ours were bought by accident. We were told they were buffs...
But I learned so much and loved so much, there's no regrets.
We had a Roo that hit 20 lbs! HeiHei was Huge! He lived to 5 months. His Queen, Penny was 16 lbs.
Allison hit 12.5 and all we're very active.
Penny and HeiHei died the same say, Allison a month later at almost 7 months.
Reese was the runt at 9 lbs. She's almost 8 months old now and is still very active. She's an excellent layer and other than not being able to fly she doesn't think she's any different from the other hens

Somehow Hooch (who is 20lbs or more and 9 months old) walk down the ramp today (our coop is 4 feet off of the ground) without injuring herself. She was acting cold this morning so I left her in the coop and just left the door open and the ramp up for the others to get in and out as they wanted.

I was planning on making her a handicap ramp, but I'm so surprised that she made it down! She's over a foot wide for sure!

This makes me happy when I hear about RUNTs if handling treating and give right nutrientive value they grow up like weeds

Since no one has, and there are some bad ideas being passed around, allow me to address the elephant in the room.

Normal non-broiler chickens have a tough time reaching ten, I only know of a scarce handful that have reached twenty. You're really gonna sit there and say all you need is love to get a CX broiler to 10 years old? Yeah... no. Y'all wanna show me a 10-year-old CX broiler? I'd certainly love to see a 20 year old one. Guiness world book record material there, for sure.

Encouraging people to keep CX broilers as pets is a bad idea, and results in heartbreak. The odds of you overcoming the genetic makeup of the bird in question is slim to none, and trying to keep a bird like that on a diet and properly exercised is a level of rigor most people either can't or won't do. OP, do yourself a favor, and get birds actually intended to enjoy a full life next time.

I ordered Buff Orpingtons and three weeks in we realized something was off...
By five weeks we knew for sure what we had, but as there were only four of them, my daughter wanted to keep them. She did an excellent job for a 15 year old.
The bird we still have had become a pet, and yes we treat her like a queen. So do all the Chickens and Roosters.
Unfortunately there are plenty of newbies out here that do grow too feel affection for their Chooks who wins up getting surprised with Broilers in the mix.
And most people that are faced with this suprise do their best to learn as much as they can about these beautiful, miss understood birds.
They're not monster birds, and if cared for properly are beautiful birds that can live comfortable likes for up to 18-20 months.... Not years.

Our Reese will jump up and down off the nests just like the others without hurting herself some how.
She doesn't get up on the high roosts, but she gets up on lower roosts when she really wants to...
She flew across the coop run a few days ago.
She flew aa total of 23 feet in distance on her own wings!
I never knew she could go that far!!!
She was chasing me trying to get help to get away from our young RIR Roo who has a high testosterone levels!
