How to stop chicken pecking a wound?

Hi everyone, we have a hen with a wound (we suspect originally a peck wound) that is difficult to heal because she continues to peck it. We have been spraying a germicidal treatment with gentian violet but this doesn't stop her pecking. When it opens it is difficult to stop bleeding. Is there any way someone has found that has worked to stop this kind of pecking?

Where is the wound located? Do you have a picture? I would try a sticky bad tasting ointment or vaseline on it. Neosporin, Bag Balm, or pine tar might work.

It is near her vent area. I have bag balm so I will try it, thank you!

Is the vent otherwise intact? Is it prolapsed?

Sometimes you can make a TShirt by cutting down an old one that will cover the wound.

Is there an ingrown feather in the wound?

I'd try applying triple antibiotic ointment to see if that gives her some relief. Unlikely that tape or bandages will stay on.

The vent is intact, the wound is about three inches anterior to the vent area

I will try to get a good picture in daylight tomorrow. She is resting in the coop now no more bleeding as yet after I applied the balm

These are photos of the wound. The balm I applied yesterday must have worn off and she pecked and lost a lot of blood in the night. I applied more balm this morning. The blue is from the Blu-cote applied previously. I also tried fashioning a cone from a tupperware lid to prevent her from reaching down there but didn't have a way to keep the cone on her.
