I used to keep extra jugs of water in the attic in FL. Now i don't have an attic! Also make sure you have a good supply of clean water. People think I'm crazy but every time I empty a milk jug, I clean it, fill it with water and put it in the barn.

We used to board up our windows with plywood. They always run out during storm warnings so we kept ours in the garage. If you can't get plywood, at least tape across the windows with packing tape to keep the glass from flying so much if impacted. Designate a safe room in your house with no windows, and put your survival supplies in there. You can take turns keeping an eye on the news so you at least get some sleep. Pack bags with clean clothes, prescriptions and important papers. Also a bag for your pets with vaccination papers in case they need to be boarded etc. And their food and treats, leash and collar, toys.https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/hurricane-preparation.1197202/
Have any of you who face the hurricanes got any good advice for this member? I'm clueless, no idea what you are supposed to do. Our storms are nothing compared to the hurricanes.
Oh, Haha!I didn't relize there is a real Peeps from FL!Thanks! Not sure if you mean me since there are a few Peeps from Florida. I think we are out of the woods since we are in the Western Panhandle portion of Florida. However, if it turns later than they think it will, it could be a different story!

News just in that 90% of the homes in Barbuda are destroyed.
Kiki, depending on damage, it could be months. My daughter's school was one of the first in the actual city of New orleans to re open. Katrina was 08/29/2005 and her school re opened in 01/2006. Many schools in your area that are able to re open will take in kids from other districts. As well as private schools, which may educate kids free of charge, until you children's school can re open. Here in NOLA, some private schools have offered to educate children who are displace to NOLA from your area free of charge. My daughter's school is one. Try Catholic schools near your area, if your children's school will not be opening soon. It's easier on the kids, they get more of a sense of normality and security, as well as keeping them from falling behind, if they are back in school sooner, especially the little ones. Good luck, hope you find a school for them soon.@lilapot Can school hurry up and start back!!!! Please!!!
