I am crazy. Crazy diet change/bet

Not great.

1) Speak to your family doc before starting this diet.
2) You will lose weight on this "diet".

As someone who was 5'11" and 130 for most of my teens and early 20s, messing with your metabolism at that time can do serious, serious damage.

I have the cruddy bone density to prove it. I'm diagnosed osteopenia, borderline osteoporosis, and was diagnosed that at 19 y/o. I now break a bone every year. I have also shrunk 2" in the last 10 years. Where is the calcium in this diet?

Further messing with my metabolism (at the hands of a quack "endocrinologist") caused me to gain almost 90lbs in three months. I now do the "yo-yo" thing, despite healthy eating and exercise.

I would give anything to beat the tar out of the quack doc who junked my thyroid up, so that I could not have weight issues, just as I would beat the tar out of myself and try consume more calcium when I was younger.

Please, print the diet off and see your doctor. If s/he ok's it, then you can tell the rest of us to STFU.

Reducing your consumption of sugars and other carbohydrates does reduce your cancer risk. Raw foodies get it half right, but it isn't going all raw that helps...it is the fact that most highly processed, high carbohydrate food does fit in to their eating plan.

As for whole grains vs refined, it is like the difference between regular cigarettes and low tar cigarettes. I got VERY VERY fat and developed high blood pressure along with pre-diabetes eating a "whole grain" vegetarian diet. Grains are basically sugar. 2 slices of bread = 1/4 cup of sugar. 1 cup of pasta = 1/4 cup of sugar. Most people eat the equivalent of 2-3 cups of sugar a day and have no clue they are doing it.

You are so knowledgable and wise!

I didn't realize the amount of sugar even whole grains have. Thank you!!

Thanks Wifezilla for clearing that up. I have a friend who is very anti-wheat who tells me what you basically just said, but I wasn't sure if the "raw" part made that much of a difference or not, so thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Andrew, I guess what really concerns me is all of the colon cleanses too. Are you supplementing with probiotics? If not, pardon mon francias but I think all you're going to do in the end is screw up your gut.

And I'm not sure why if this diet is so great why you are doing it for only a month. It's like becoming vegan (this actually is a vegan diet)...not that there's anything wrong with that if you do it correctly, but if you do it and then go back to eating hamburgers or something you're going to mess your body up.

Take the time to look behind WHY and HOW this diet was put together. As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing about this diet that will benefit you in the long run.

greeneggsandham - yup, we do the good rice and pasta AND the regular kind... lol It all depends on exactly what is being made. And sometimes, I just LIKE plain ole white rice with salt and butter... that happens about once a year.

How can I say this delicately... yes, it does sound crazy and very unhealthy. It also sounds like this "church" is trying to make some $ off of your (and anyone elses) insecurities. However it is your body and your choice, just PLEASE consult your DR first.

I hear ya on that one. Its almost like a comfort food sometimes. Nice hot rice with butter melting through it. I really shouldn't say this, but if you like cheese sprinkle some parmasan (sp?) cheese on the rice yummy.
