I have recently started raising a buff Orpington! (And I’m obsessed with her) I read a lot online about how to sex a chick when they are extremely young and the most common way was to look at the feathers. She has the two layers of feathers and they are different lengths. Her wings are extremely long! She started growing her tail feathers and other feathers 3 days after we got her. And they look rounded to me. (She is about 4.5 weeks old now). All of that meant pullet to me at least. Now she is starting to get a comb, it is very small, but starting to turn a bit pink. And her wattle area is starting to turn a bit pink as well. As this is my very first chick I don’t know how fast they are supposed to develop. I know she is young and will post pics when she gets a few weeks older, but any advice/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Generally roosters will feather slower than pullets. A boy will have a very obvious red comb often by 5-6 weeks. I love buff Orpingtons too.
