With regards to this:

... They will be kept no different in population to normal broiler populations. If you have a problem with this, your problem is with the broiler industry, not naked chickens.

To Rozzie, they are broilers, they aren't supposed to have a normal life. They grow, get killed after 2 months & eaten by us. That is the sad but true reality & yes, they do use artificial insemination

teach1rusl... that is exactly correct

I don't see anything wrong with breeding a chicken that will have a more comfortable life in such heat... even if it will be a short life as meat chickens often do. I would hate to walk around in a coat in those hot places, so I can imagine how they feel with feathers. These aren't being used as backyard chickens, that would be exposed to other environments and cold weather, but in a controlled one. Perhaps for their breeders they should have a ...uh.. hen suit so the roo doesn't tear her up... hehe.

You guys are awesome-I love you all

It's hard to find such an open minded community & yet we have a fabulous one with a huge thing in common-we all love chickens

Sorry, I am not trying to insult you, but that is about the worst idea I've ever heard. That thing will die in the cold, and while you live in a warm climate, it will certainly suffer in the sun. It will burn. It has no protection from biting insects, like flies, fleas and mosquitos, and is about the ugliest thing I've ever seen. It is creepy. There is a reason flightless birds have feathers, as they serve a host of other functions.
On the other hand, to each his own, if you like it, that's all that matters in the end. Good luck with it. Peace. (Shalom)

Sigh, some people just don't READ

These birds will live in an inside environment ie. a commercial chicken house. No cold, no sun, no bugs.
Have to repeat myself every 3 posts

Sigh, anyway, Inbar lives inside my apartment too so she doesn't suffer from the elements either. I lost one of my silkies to the heat so now the chicken condo is in my house & Inbar has a whole bunch of feathers in the form of a baby outfit

a couple hours in the sun and fried chicken. that thing would have to be kept in a temp controled climate and out of the sun.

They are very interesting looking and I have read about them before, they started the breeding to get a chicken that would die in the heat as many other meat bird do, so in my opinion it is less cruel to have a featherless bird than a dead one.

they are meat bird just like cornish Xs but they will not die in the heat and they will not be plucked while they are still alive as is the case in most meat factories.

OP, she does have very nice eyes and I am sure she makes a great pet!
