Is my TSC Pekin really a Pekin?

The black spot does not come off. His fluff is definitely just black there. Also, I've noticed that two of them, including this one, have significantly lighter pink bills than the others. Mix breed Pekin? Or something else?

Hard to tell right now, but I'm assuming with the black spot it would be a mix at best...possibly different breed altogether! Cute as can be either way!

Half appleyard half Pekin? Dunno. It's hard to tell at this age.
We will see when that fluffball gets feathers!!

Possibly white layers and the black probably is only on the down but won't be when the feathers grow in.

Usually TSC doesn't sell mixes so doubt a mix.

They definitely look like my White Layers:

Those pink bills are a sure sign.
Don't be disappointed: White Layers are as goofy as Pekins, minus the leg and hip problems that older Pekin ducks will develop. And they lay more eggs than Pekin ducks.

One of the a male Pekin (or White Layer..I don't know anymore) ducklings I had hatch earlier this summer has a black spot on his head. I wondered if maybe his dad had been our male mallard Mallard who lost his head (evil predator). Anyway, posted his pic in the mixed breed thread and was told mixed breed would show more markings. It's more likely that his color gene just got turned on. Something about solid white breeds (Pekins and White Layers I guess) have their color gene turned off, sometimes it can turn back on and give you a "freckle". My duckling's mark is over his eye so it looks like an eyebrow. Makes him look like he's plotting something all the time. He's almost 3 months old now and still has his eyebrow.

One of my pekins, the visually impaired one has a black feather on the back of his head. He’s 5years old to the best of our knowledge.
