July 2022 Hatch-A-Long

How is everyone's July babies doing? I have 3 pullets left, the 2 rooster have been rehomed to an FFA student, and they are getting so big. 2 have EE muffs/beards and 1 does not, so likely just a barnyard mix. Two roost with the big girls at night and 1 just won't stop getting in the nesting box at roosting time. I put her up on the roost and a majority of the time she stays, but ever-so-often she gets back in there-ugh. I might have to start blocking off the boxes after like 3 pm

Here are 2 of the 3 we kept, the 3rd is a bugger to catch- Luna and Copper

I had straight run and others ordered from Meyer in July,

These are some of them. Anyhow, something had broken a window I was using as a door the other day, (the open area above) Missing pullets, of course...

I covered it with a board using eyehooks and zipties.
This morning a diff window was broken, but this one was double paned.

I covered remaining windows with wire fencing. I did have a cage out, (skunk sized, but maybe it needs to be bigger.

All windows had been used in the past for 10 years or so

They are beautiful! Im gonna get a salmon faverolle next year, hoping she will be my show bird.

The broken windows are all covered and snow up to you hips now. My May hens are laying eggs like crazy, I get a doz a day, if my July hens start to lay, I may not know because the eggs would all blend in. Below is 6 days worth...
