July 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
I really did plan on being finished for the year with this last two batches of eggs incubating and due to hatch next week (one incubator has Bresse, d'Uccle, Brahma, Silkie, EE and another has Guinea birds in an assortment of colours) but then Friday evening I couldn't help myself and decided last minute to pop in a couple dozen assorted quail eggs I had just gathered.

(🤫 Hubs doesn't know it.🤞😄)

*Note: I didn't put the quail eggs in with those eggs due to hatch next week...I had an empty incubator. Dangerous things, empty incubators. 🤣
I used to have a penpal from Ozark when I was a child (many years ago now 😄).

I'm doing La Bresse as well! Have you hatched them before? I've read they can be trickier than other breeds but I'm not sure how true that is?

My husband thinks he's funny
Too funny!!! Glad you got home in time!
How'd the lil one that pipped below aircell comin along?

My husband has gotten hilarious with all my babies too! Our daughter called my phone the other night but I was at coop so he answered and he was talking all cutesy and sweet and she said ok gross...he said what? I'm talking to the babies. Lolol
He dims the kitchen light for em to tell its bedtime and everything, mimicking the sun going down LOl!
He even helped put the wild d'uccles back in last night! He seldom ever touches one lol!

Were they shipped eggs?

I've learned to watch the clock so as not to allow it to go past like 24 hours without making any progress...if you still hear a clicking sound (in addition to chirping) then they re still absorbing the yolk from what I understand and re not ready for further hatching. If NO clicking sound and you can tell the chirping is less and it's been hours longer then I have been helping a little at a time.
Really good information here that has helped me as well as @LadiesAndJane !!!
I had one (the last one that hatched too) that fit this criteria perfectly last week and it was so tiny and weak. But once clicking had stopped and chirping was less and less and time had passed with no further development I did assist.
It ended up having to be completely helped out as it was only able to get 1 leg out.
After nutridrench for a day it is 1 happy healthy growing lil baby!

We have a second pip! Also not at at the air cell. 😬 Any suggestions as to why they are pipping the wrong spot? Or what to do different for my next hatch so that doesn't happen?
Not sure why it happens but I have read to treat it as an internal pip so it may take longer than one that internally pipped then externally. Since it didn't internally pip to breath in the air cell while it absorbs the yolk and veins it will need the time after this pip to do that then it will start to zip
