July 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Not hatchalong related, but I got a first egg today!!! From my 19 week old Barred Rocks from TSC. I love the color, and it's so cute and tiny! Sheryl Crow did us proud today! She even laid it in the nesting box like a good girl ❤

I shouldn't since I will be home just before day 20 starts..... So far mine seem to hatch a few hours into day 20. so hopefully get home to see some hatch!!!!!
I am watching your progress junior67, I put 6 shipped eggs under my broody hen the same day you started your eggs. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Good luck to your broody and you. Have you candled at all.
I haven't, I am not experienced with candling. I haven't touched the eggs since I put them in with her. I did let them rest for 24 hours after picking them up from the post office. I got them from Meyer Hatchery and they were packaged very well. I know hatch rates are not great with shipped eggs but I had a very determined broody and do not have a rooster. She has been a champ, even through this brutal Texas heat. I'm so hopeful to at least get a couple chicks.

I’ve seen great results from Meyers eggs, they do such a nice job packing them

Ooh what breeds did you get from Meyer? I set 6 legbar, 3 EE, 3 OE, & 3 Buff Orp from Meyer last month, and ended up with 2, 1, 3, and 2 respectively. 8 out of 15, over 50% shipped rate I thought was good!

Over 50% sounds pretty good to me! I just ordered the hatchery choice and was really pleased with what I got; Lavender/Black split Orpington, Light Brahma, Blue Andalusian, Patridge Cochin, Easter Egger and a White Cochin.

Wow you got some great breeds! I wish I had ordered the lavender split and a Cochin…my new light Brahma chick (I ordered pullets to arrive around my hatch date) is my favorite already! Good luck! I hope they all hatch. 😊
