I have no eggs to put in the bator right now. Most of mine are broody and not laying.I didn't get eggs at the swap. I am putting all my faith into my quail and hoping they start laying, lol.
What breed(s)?Broody town over here too as of today. I don't have a single duck laying at this point.
And... As soon as I said I never get good deals on chicks, the dozen chicks that were 50 cents a piece last weekend that are now in my brooder reminded me that I sometimes do. Doesn't happen very often though and they weren't any fancy breeds like I'd get shipped.![]()
Mixed breeds are some of my favorite chickens. I have so many different kinds... maybe in a few hundred years they'll develop a new landrace.Broody town over here too as of today. I don't have a single duck laying at this point.

Light brahmas, Easter eggers, leghorns, and buff orpingtons are what I chose. They also had speckled sussex, jersey giants and some other breeds, but people like blue eggs of which I have none, and I've read leghorns are very efficient to keep, orpingtons are so friendly (can never really have too many of those lol), and I've wanted a few brahmas for a while. Definitely worth my $6, I think! What breed(s)?
I love my mixes, too!! Have gotten some of the coolest chicks from mixes! A lot of them seem to be hardier, too.Mixed breeds are some of my favorite chickens. I have so many different kinds... maybe in a few hundred years they'll develop a new landrace.![]()
