Tons of silkies pipping, but a Faverolle is the first chick out.

I listened to the incubator guide and got the humidity to 70% (low end of guide spectrum), then condensation started so my vent is now fully open and the humidity is dropping. Could I have already drowned the chicks if they were only like that for a few minutes, at most 10?

I’m now aiming for about 60-65% humidity due to reading some more about hatching and people saying that’s fine as long as the incubator is not opened a lot. All 11 eggs are still good, a lot are moving and about four or so have really visible internal pips (candled before incubator adjustments). Also, is the continuous 99.5 degrees still okay? My house runs cold and my room is the coldest at ~68 degrees with the AC running, humidity is unknown. As I’m typing the humidity in the bator is down to 64% and still dropping for now and the condensation has lessened a lot.

How warm is your house and what incubator do you have? I have an Incuview and it runs hot when indoor temperature goes over 80F. There's a room temperature setting that I have to change every afternoon to get it to stay in the correct temperature range. I don't know if other incubators have this problem but the incuview comes programmed for a room that's between 70-80F.

My incubator is a Little Giant. It is still air and made out of styrofoam. The independent thermometer indicates the cool corner only got to 99F within the last 24 hours. Directly under the element stays warmer of course.

As for my house temperature, it is only 80F now. It might be a little cooler outside tonight, but not by much.

I candled the eggs a little while ago. I have two that I believe are trying to pip. The others I simply couldn't see for sure.

I am increasing the humidity some.

I guess I will see what happens over the next day or two.

Made a big mistake this morning, was candling eggs and had a fertile pile and an infertile pile, must have put one in the wrong pile. I cracked it open and there was a little embryo inside it I feel really bad! I think i need to double check my eggs before chucking them now!

So I didn’t accidentally drown them . Some have actually externally pipped. The Welsummer, Fayoumi, and a couple of the unknown eggs pipped overnight! My incubator is also stable once again on 99.5 degrees and 63% humidity. How long after these pips can I expect zipping and hatching?

Usually within 12 hours, I find my Faverolles tend to go fast, but that might not be true for all.

I’ve read anywhere between an hour to 36 which calms my nerves quite a bit. Hopefully they don’t hatch today though because that would mean something is probably wrong since it’s only day 19. We have five pips that I can tell so far and I’m hearing a lot of chirping. Also, the little Fayoumi mix is really going at it, I saw the egg rocking a few minutes ago and it has the largest pip .
