JUNE - JULY HATCH-ALONG!!!!!!!

Pics
Ugh. Opened the duck house this morning to discover a dead duckling in front of the door. I think if I see them outside of the house again I'm going to take them.

Duck in the bath tub is doing okay this morning. Yay!

No progress on my incubator eggs. The eggs under mum progress so much quicker lol.
Glad your injured one is doing ok but sorry about finding a dead one! Was it a new hatch or one of the ones that hatched yesterday?

Two new ones today. The fluffy one to the left is yesterday’s duck. The one 1/2 in the egg, I helped just a tad. He was the one zipping yesterday and it looked like he was going to make it outside the egg overnight, but there was no progress when I woke up this morning. The feathers near the zipped area even looked dry.
Since the other egg hatched which wasn’t even zipped last night before I went to bed, I was a bit concerned. I knew it’s been over 24 hours since it pipped originally. I decided to use that spike of humidity from the other successful egg hatch as an opportunity to just kind of feel the egg of the one that was having problems. The egg felt real tough. So I just use my thumb nail and gently pushed around the egg shell to make a complete zip line all around the egg and placed it in its side on the floor of the incubator.
He quickly started to push out.

These are the ones from yesterday. She brought them out this morning. Of the 6 eggs she had, three are alive. One that was hatched enough to have it's bill out unfortunately didn't make it out. The other egg as well didn't hatch. I'm pretty bummed. They were both fully formed ducklings. Hopefully my hatch with the incubator goes well.

Thank you. She seems to be doing a great job so far.
The thirds umbilicus is drying out nicely. I put a splint of sorts on to try and straighten out it's leg and foot.

Dang! I'm sorry to read that. Glad the one in the house is doing well. I hope it continues to improve and become a healthy happy duck, forever grateful to it's duck-parent.

The duck I helped out this morning is doing great, but has pieces of shell stuck to him. I'm assuming that this won't hurt the duck. Let me know if I am wrong.

I don't know about the other two eggs currently unhatched in the lock-down incubator. I candled them real quick, but didn't see much movement if at all. They are dated 6/7/19 and were placed in the lock-down with the others on 7/1/19. I put them back in, just in case, but I'm not real optimistic.

The other eggs in the regular incubator seem to be hanging on although the temp is now all over the place. I guess this might be due to the fact there are less eggs inside now? Eitherway I have to adjust the temp up and down based on which direction the egg turner is facing. This means that for the last three days I have been getting up from sleep every hour changing the temp and going back to sleep. Rinse and repeat. I'm so overly tired. One egg looks real close to internally pipping though. It is supposed to go in today, so I will put it in just as soon as I put the three hatched birds into their brooder later tonight.

Things are really cooking for your ducklings now - Congratulations!!! :wee Will they all be black Indian runner cuties?
