Thanks, :hugs Truthfully, it's more like 3 dozen, LOL!

@KDOGG331/Kelsey, sweetie, if it stresses you out, have your mom or dad handle it for you. You have so much stress going on that you probably have an ulcer the size of Earnest Borgnine's butt in your stomach right now. Just make sure it gets done so you can catch a break and enjoy what you are doing because trust me. It is enjoyable and sooooo rewarding to see those little beaks peeking through the egg and know that you have had a hand in creating them after the hen laid them.:jumpy

Thank you!! :hugs

I’m sure I probably do especially with all the other stress I’ve had lately. Mostly all my own doing :lau

But like I’ve also been running myself ragged trying to set up all these dang fish tanks all at once and running back and forth to Petco 5000 times buying stuff for them or ordering it or whatever. Then one of them almost died so I spent a few days trying to save him and seriously almost put him down after he didn’t move for like 24 hours. Until he did. And I decided to give him another chance. He made a miraculous recovery and now he’s very spunky. But it meant I had to buy a third tank for the new one I had bought thinking he was gonna die :hide

Plus in addition the fish and eggs there’s a few other things going on right now and I’m just, in general, a bit of a mess atm :lau :hide

I think I’m also coming down with a cold or something from all the stress and anxiety.

Another temp spike!!!

Went to check the incubator and turn the eggs again around noon and noticed it spiked again!!!

Two thermometers were reading 101 (I know it says 100.9, it went down slightly right before the pic) and the spot check was reading 100.3! I think the calibrated one was still reading 98 or maybe 99 but it’s still on the cool side of the incubator. I moved it to the hot side, lower corner this time, and I’m about to go home so we’ll see what it’s reading now.

But this is ridiculous!!!

Obviously I don’t think it’s actually 101 but even 100 or 100.5.... that’s a half to one whole degree difference!! Which doesn’t sound like a lot but I’m sure it is in incubating right!?

The room isn’t even hot or anything. Actually, I’d say it’s pretty cool in there right now and all the curtains are closed!! So I don’t think it should be spiking! Right!?

I think I will definitely have to call or email or something. This thing definitely seems a tad bit wonky!!!

:barnie

Idk if you can read these, couldn’t get good pics, but see how messed up these numbers are!?

I don't mess with my incubators heat setting. I put it at 100 and rotate eggs. Maybe I just got luck, I don't know.

Yeah, I haven’t touched it. I just did at first cause it kept fluctuating and I was paranoid. So I turned it up and/or down to try to get it right. Should have figured it out beforehand. :hide

Though tbh I’m thinking now even that was it malfunctioning.

I finally figured out 97.5 is what it has to be set on to get it within the right range. Otherwise it got way too hot. Still does a bit but not as bad.

I really think I got a bad one :hit

And I’ve been trying to remember to rotate the eggs ha

But have been turning frequently at least so I guess that’s good

Awww so cute!! :love

:lau x2!!

Whoops

Definitely need to be faster! I leave it off when I candle too

I’ll try to be faster and/or put it back on when I’m candling or something. I figured it was easier or faster but probably not good for the eggs.

Although... how do I turn them with the lid on? Just reach in?

I turned this morning but the lid still kinda was off with my arm in there? I mean, it was on but doesn’t heat still escape? I guess maybe this way the lid at least traps some of the heat/it escapes slower instead of letting it all out at once??

And it was in the supposedly hot corner and I think it was reading 100.

I loved it to the cool corner when I turned this morning.

I definitely need to get faster!! I usually leave it off for candling and turning.

I assume that is a horrible idea. I try to be as fast as possible but still probably not good.

I’ll try to leave the lid on. Makes it a tad harder to do things but definitely worth it if it means not killing the eggs haha

I think I forgot about that one.

All I remembered was all the perfect hatches you’ve had and how mine is definitely not :lau

And hmm yeah probably true.

But tbh the calibrated one really is reading basically the same as the other 3 anyway so I don’t think they’re that off if at all or that it made much difference.:oops:

But I guess I had no way of knowing that for sure before which is the point of getting it? To know? But still. And I also haven’t really messed with the temp settings or anything since the first couple days but it still seems to be having spikes and cool downs and stuff.

Also I guess the other ones were maybe a degree or two off which is probably big in incubation? So I guess it’s good having the calibrated one. Like now I know that corner is not 101+.

Unless it was only reading that during a temp spike which is also possible.

Okay so I checked it and turned like an hour ago and it was reading 100 in the hot corner and the other two in the bottom right corner and top left corner were reading 98 and 98.5 and the spot check in the middle was reading 99.5.

Now the spot check says 99.2 and the other two digitals both say 99 even.

They’re both in the corner. One is in the hot corner (top right) and one is in the bottom right.

Moved the calibrated to the cool corner and it’s reading 98 I think.

The digitals are also probably a little cool cause I cracked the incubator to take the calibrated one out briefly and read it and put it back so that’s probably why they’re reading lower cause it hasn’t gotten back up yet even though I was super fast.

So the calibrated one seems to agree with the others I think.
I haven't finished reading this novel yet but yes it is horrible to leave the lid off.

And what is this "I think the temperature was 100."

You can't think you need to make sure the temperature is good.
