I still need to get updated pictures of the chicks but they are going to be 3 weeks old on Friday and are growing up so fast

Anyway, went to the feed store the other day to get food for all the chickens and stock up on a few other things like grit and oyster shell and stuff. Figured I would buy another bag of chick starter while I was there.... I regret it. The dang thing is all powder!! Should have just given them the flock raiser crumbles. I use it for the big girls anyway at least in winter and the chicks actually ate it for a few days when I ran out of chick starter. They seemed to like it just fine but I’m weird/paranoid and wanted to give them something specifically formulated for chicks... I know, I know. Lol. Big mistake. Worst part? I bought the 25 pound bag too.

It’s probably half powder.

Oh well, I guess I can ferment it or something and use it. But it’s just a pain in the rear!!

And now I am having to sift it when I feed them because they can’t eat the powder!! It’s way too small.

The Flock Raider is pretty powdery too though but nothing like this. This is just ridiculous!!



But enough ranting LOL I will do a photo shoot tomorrow once I move the chicks to the new brooder!

I want to see my lav orp

So I won't be getting any lav Orps or other breeds. I chose chicks from what we hatched and we officially have 16 chickens 2 are roosters so in total we have 14 girls. I'm hoping all the chicks are girls.

I stuck both brahma mixes in yesterday because I'm thinking both are girls if not I'll have to remove the Cockerels.

They're both so cool looking!

One is dark the other is light. None have names. 7 chicks with no name.

I get pellets now because mine are old enough to eat them. I don't like crumbles at all anymore. The dusty stuff my chickens don't touch and it's just a waste to me. I don't ferment because my chickens won't eat it.

Yeah, I normally hate crumbles but the chicks needed them and the food I’m feeding the adults atm only comes in crumbles

Although I might switch to a different food if I can find it fresh at the store. It’s a smaller bag but it’s pellets and honestly most of the difference in weight is probably powder anyway

I'm glad I got mine out of the house! The brahmas mixes are still inside the coop and haven't come out yet. Guess they'll come out when they feel like it. I just put food and water in the coop for them. I put both of them in there because I'm hoping both are pullets. If not we will catch the one that isn't and trade it out.
