Thanks! They are available at most places that have RV stuff... it’s just a tiny dish drainer, and coincidentally fits suspended in the small portion of this sink. It is a bit of a pain to clean it though because it is so small. I actually bought 3 different drainers trying to find one to fit in the original RV sink... and to figure out which actually worked for us. One got donated and the other holds the clean dry dishes on the counter. Now I have a little purse tape measure that comes with me everywhere and dimensions of all the cupboards and closet spaces written down as I’m always looking for water-tight storage solutions that fit in all the little spaces. We originally tried to minimize our dishes and cutlery, 3 piece set for 3 people. That lasted about 2 months!

I’m stupidly happy to have finally found a functional sink that fits the space!
:ya:yesss::ya
Now I’m just hoping the silicone sealed up the joints enough... when I took it apart to silicone it, I noticed the drainpipe was sloped the wrong way, yes it’s going to be another shower night :sick. We had to re-fit everything, again. But, it’s all done now and curing... if it still leaks? Well, I’ve still got 1/2 a tube of silicone open and a bunch more in my cargo trailer ;) a full grocery bag labeled “caulk and stuff” with everything from lap sealant, to interior acrylic caulk and construction/marine adhesives! If it comes in a caulking tube, I probably have some!

I have never understood not fitting a draining rack over the sink ~ 'cause, you know, water stuff...:gig

Plumbing is the pits. I only just got my kitchen sink fixed because it leaked on the lad & he went ~ oops, never actually fixed that. I've only been asking for 10 months... :( The lad, not hubby. Hubby can't get in there to do that stuff & I lack necessary muscle power.

Not to mention exploding toilets... don't ask. So totally gross. It made me remember fondly the old *thunderbox* @ the end of the paddock. There is something to be said for the old *technology*:lau

Oh my!!! I don’t even want to know... exploding toilets cannot be a good thing!

I totally get it though, I mean, it’s taken us four days now to get this one sink done... and it’s a good thing we’re married because two people trying to work on the one sink together :lau We must be very careful where we step/crouch/kneel over and on each other trying to hold things in place, tighten fittings and such while half in the cabinet reaching around the drawer runners... it’s like that game twister, but with nasty sink drain water and tools! Then there’s the getting out of the cabinet and off of the floor... Can’t blame the boy for wanting to avoid it.

Thank you, but :gigit’s (insert horror movie music score here) plumbing! We are on sink replacement day 4 now, and expect to have it working tomorrow. Yesterday we got everything hooked up, the sink and faucet siliconed down... and failed our wet test. I expected that, things always leak! So don’t tell any real plumbers this, but I’m using my “secret plumbing weapon” on this project, silicone! Lots of it... The drain is leaking from a screw together joint, one of these thingies. (Excuse the disaster in the background)

I figure about 1/4 tube of silicone will remedy that just fine! I’m going to lose some storage and have to shorten my kitchen drawers about 4” to accommodate the deeper sink.View attachment 1849727
But for the extra cleaning space... it’s worth it! Here is my “After”. The frying pan is for perspective, Charlie for cuteness. He is getting away with sitting there because it’s currently the only really clear spot in the trailer, and I still hadn’t had my coffee yet! :love

And the “before” sink, which my favorite (16 years old now!) spaghetti pot, two lids, and frying pan were impossible to wash in, as water ended up all over the counter, and my and cuttingboards/baking sheets wouldn’t fit in it at all! The overall size difference isn’t “much” but the useable sink space is so much better!

Oh, and for baking sheets... they don’t make anything small enough for the RV oven... so we finally fixed that with the smallest one we could find (11x15”) and cut off the lip on both sides with the angle grinder and a metal cutting wheel! I can finally bake again (important for our buns for the Saturday Market!) 3 extra buns per batch speeds things up a lot. 24 buns in 1hr vs 25 in 1hr 40mins!

I'm also impressed with your resourcefulness! :bow

Morning Bob! :frow That’s ok! Some days I miss my thread completely too , half the time your greeting is what reminds me to post!

I got sidetracked yesterday by a thread in the Meat Bird forum that exploded and got shut down after it evolved from a somewhat tasteless ad discussion into a full blown animal rights debate. I’m not quite sure where the tipping point is on these sorts of things, but it seems to be just before the name calling starts up. Or somewhere between religion being called in and the discussion of cannibalism. It was actually pretty interesting up until the Buddhism and Hinduism cards started flying, as most of the people throwing them around don’t understand fully what they are talking about. I still don’t get why people who are 100% against anyone eating animals lurk in the Meat forums

My Crop issue gal seems to be improving, and she’s made a better companion for Hoppy than the chicks. I think she is full on in a hard molt. I’ll see if I can snag some pictures when I put them back into the barn so Sammy and his girls can have their outside time. A small word of caution there... once you start free ranging your birds, it is hard to get them to be content with runs and pens again. We are settling into a good routine of Hoppy and her buddy in the mornings and Sammy and girls going out at noonish.

This is our third attempt at fixing the leak in the drain so I can use the new sink. I now have almost a full tube of silicone on my drain pipes... I might just stick a bucket under the leak if we didn’t get it this time! Today’s to do list includes calling about the concrete... again, and helping a new neighbor launch their boat on the other side of the island so they can bring it around to our side. They got stuck on one of the hills, where our first house part delivery got stuck, and where we almost got pulled off the edge by our Hay Trailer last winter. It’s a nasty little section of road! We will be delivering my last two whole birds, and hopefully putting up a tent over my generator and workbench as sun/rain protection.

And that’s pretty much where things are in my neck of the woods. It is way too hot out here, and we are shaping up for a very busy week, I hope!

I got sucked into that one as well, but had the good sense to just lurk. Good news about the crop and routine. and for the leak, well, I HATE PLUMBING! I tried everything I could think of before calling the plumber out. Apparently the washer/insert has a top and bottom, and I had mine in upside down. $65 to flip over a washer. :he

I read that one all the way through too but kept my mouth shut. There is an uncrossable divide where it seems people just can't see the other POV. As to what I was doing there...all knowledge is valuable. ;)
