Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

I will take your word for it but it really is hard to believe that they can be mean. Isn't it funny how our perceptions can be set by cuteness.
Even funnier is that 'cute' has changed a lot over the centuries. Old portraits of leading lovelies (both masculine and feminine) can be an education. That said, I daresay lambs have always been considered eye candy.

Well, I for one can say I probably won’t be slow cooking any Roo anytime soon! I wonder if it tastes like alligator? Or more like venison? as for my roosters... Chickie Hawk has proven his ability to father some Olive eggers, so he’s definitively off the menu despite his attitude issues. One of his daughters laid this cutie for me:

Time to build more nest boxes I suppose...

Speaking of building... 9 hours later we finally have some concrete in. These pics aren’t too exciting, but once we strip the forms in a few days they will be much more impressive, I’m sure!

Those trees look like they are 100 feet tall.:th

That’s a pretty good estimate, on average... there are some real giants in the section just west of us that are 200-300 feet, mostly Douglas and Grand Fir, many are 4 feet or more in diameter. Hence that portion of our “driveway” being named “the big trees”
