Kristen’s Chickens and Farming Ventures

When you said "this is my solution" Bob, I saw the photo and thought " Kris is going to need a lot of glass topped tables!"
Crossed my mind too. :gig
..and I'd bet the cows would be rough on the glass tables!

That looks like fun! ...but picking up all those mini nerf balls before the chickens ate them would be rough too.

According to my calculations I would need 1815 tables (@4x6’) per acre to make an invisible glass topped barrier! Although we have 600 acres, much of it isn’t level enough to table over... granted it does make for quite an imaginative solution!

Fortunately they appear to be too big to be swallowed in one bite, so you got a little time. But yeah there could be a lot of pickup work. :gig

Yeah, found the size after posting, it's about 1" dia.
Wonder if you could modify a golf ball shag bag to do the job...weaker catch spring?

I do think given time they might try and peck them apart but they are pretty tough little balls.

That's not a bad idea for the shag bag. I don't normally have to shoot a lot of them. It does keep the hawks from sitting on the fence or top of the run just starting at them. It is quite rewarding plunking one of the arrogant buggers off the fence.
