Goatwalker,
I wanted to wish you good luck. I am a former woman marine served from 1983-89. I agree get your mos in writing. Parris island is rough but it's nothing you can't get through. You will carry the knowledge and discipline the marines instill in you the rest of your life. No laughing was hard and please no eyerolling my biggest problem with my di's. I did so many mountain climbers for punishmwnt because of that! Gave me nice legs though.
Good luck and god speed to you to keep you safe.

Im not big on wearing dresses or make up lol, so Its one of those rare ocassions haha.

I might choose east coast then, just because im a big country girl and mom will want me to visit home as much as possible lol But west coast sounds entertaining. Ill talk with my recruiter about it, hes a Hollywood marine haha

Congrats and Good luck! I went into the DEP when I was in 11 grade as well and shipped out in July after graduation in June. I loved USMC boot camp. I lost over 50lbs in the 3 months. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life. You won't be sorry. Oorah!

FYI

When I went in almost everyone who put east coast as their first duty station got sent to Oki for 1 yr first. Also the same for those hoping to get Hawaii. I chose West Coast and enjoyed Southern California on Camp Pendleton very much. I don't know if that is still the case, but good luck.

I just got a call from my gunny and hopefully Ill have a job down this week!

As far as weight loss - im ready to gain weight lol, muscle weight that is. ive lost 30 lbs in the DEP and its time i started weighing more tham my little sister haha.

I think that for now, when i start off, id like to be closer to home. Then later on when/if i get a chance ill decide if i want to be closer or farther from home.

Thank you for your decision to serve our country. I wish you well and stay safe wherever they send you! Give us a holler once they are done mangling you and let us know how you are!!! Good luck.

Thank you for wanting to defend me and my freedom! You and all the other brave men and women in uniform will be in my thoughts. Stay safe, be strong and maybe have a little fun?!?! We are all cheering you on!

A quote from former President Ronald Regan came to my mind
today.

“Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made
a difference in the world.

Marines don't have that problem."

...and as you pass through the gates at Parris Island know that
YOU will make a difference.
