Glad to see ya again Pete! I'm still sending buff baby vibes your way! Got a quick question for ya.... I'm not having the best of luck this season. So far, out of six eggs I've hatched 3 goslings. The first one died after hatch (that was my very first post-hatch death for a gosling...I cried like a big ol baby). In the second group/hatch, there were two eggs..one hatched successfully and one died before internally pipping. In this last group/hatch, there were three eggs, one literally pushed itself free about an hour ago but the other two died before internally pipping. I can't help but think it's something with the humidity because they aren't losing enough weight. In all of the one's that didn't make it, I could never get the air cells to do that massive drop down that they do at around 27 days or so. I can't figure it out though because my call duck eggs are doing what they're supposed to and three of the goose eggs did, so why am I not seeing it in all of them? When I opened them up, one of the goslings was in the wrong position (it was a really big baby and I don't think it could get turned around) but the other two were in the correct position but had a LOT of yolk left to absorb and had quite a bit of fluid in there with them. Is it just the luck of the draw sort of thing or would you drop the humidity even lower? I run a dry bator and humidity is averaging at around 27%-28%. The hubby's picking me up another oscillating fan and I'm going to put that on them and see if it'll drop my humidity a bit more. I don't want to get it too low but I think if I can get it down to say....20% -25% it might help. What do you think?
