Lockdown- Silkie Eggs in Genesis 1588

Since the outage the temp has been very stable (maybe the bator needed a little rest!) I candled and saw at least 5 of the chicks moving. One seemed a little light but the rest looked ok I didnt keep them out too long to wait and see if they moved. 2 do have saddle shaped air cells. Anyways fingers and toes still crossed ill be watching bator like a hawk! Humidity is at 70 and we are in lockdown now.

So my new question is what do I need to have on hand as a first aid kit for new chicks. Ive got medicated starter, heat lamp, shavings, bandages, iodine, saline solution, the basics. Should I get coccoidosis treatment and have on hand? Which is best? What else should I have on hand? I want to be prepared for the worst!

Oh grabbing electrolights and probiotic as well. Do you give as preventative or only if signs of distress? Since yall are so informative id basically just love to hear your basics on new chick care. Ive read every book in the library and bought a few, just would appreciate personal experience feedback!

I always like to add electrolytes to their water to give them a boost after hatching.
Have you ever had problems with coccoidosis before? You could get some just to have on hand but if you haven't dealt with it before in your flock I doubt you'll be needing it for your chicks.. Then again it's better to be safer just in case. Good luck on your hatch~! :pop

Nutridrench is a must-have for me. Its a quick acting vitamin that gets right into the bloodstream and is awesome "miracle drug" for weak chicks. I only use it if one is lagging behind, or seems weak, etc.

What is your brooder setup plan? I personally like puppy pads on the bottom for the first few days, for easier "poop inspection". Once I know they are all good, then I switch to shavings.

And obviously, be careful and extra safe if using a heat lamp. Accidents happen, so just be sure it is secure.
