I have Poly Vi Sol as well.
That's a great supplement IF you already have it on hand and don't have access to the PND (nutridrench).. which has amino acids.

Noting that the vitamins will render the medicated part of the starter feed ineffective during their use since it works to slow the growth of coccidia by mimicking thiamine while the chicks build more immunity to them. They are in every single chick poo and mostly a problem warm humid conditions like that of a brooder. Making sure shavings are dry, water is poo free, and not overcrowding can go a long way in prevention. If you do need to treat.. Corid is often very effective.

I only give supplements to shipped chicks or anyone who isn't thriving. But I hatch from my own stock and know that breeder nutrition is key. No supplement should be given for more than 10 days in row. My preference is good ol' fresh water and feed.

Crushing my starter crumbles a little extra for the first week or two significantly improved my bantam survival rate! I do it for all my breeds now.

Tip for future extended power outages in case others read this even though you might not hatch again... cardboard is a fantastic insulator. But I also like to use the side burner on my BBQ or our camp stove and fill containers with hot water to place near by as needed. One of my thermometers sits outside the bator with a probe on the inside, which is really nice for visibility. Glad you had the water bottles in to help. I to also think your chickies still have a chance... Thanks to your dedication. :thumbsup

That is all very helpful, thank you!

I have a gas stove so I did boil water and put the pots next to the incubator! Glad that was the right thing to do!
