My 7 month old black sex link laid this egg today:
left to right: Amanda, Beatrix (7 mo barred rock, who usually lays the biggest egg - it's about the same size as a store egg), Amanda's regular egg, Goldy (5 mo EE)
Can't wait to eat it ... hope it's a double yolk to show the kids.
Its got at least 2 yolks! I just candled it...even though I shouldn't. Its just day 2 now. I'll look at it again in 5 days or so and try to take pics then, if I see any veins growing.
just candled again and see veins. not sure if its from 1 or two yolks though. But I do see veins and a little black blob floating in there...I know its early...this is going to be a L-O-N-G month....
will update when I know more...

One of our RIR as a kid laid and egg like that once and we found four FOUR yolks in it. I wonder what would have happened if we tried to hatch it... lol.
I may be giving my age away here but, back in the early 60's we lived on a turkey breeding farm, before they had artificial insemination. It wasn't uncommon to find eggs with 5 yolks and once we got one that had 7 yolks. Ahhh, the good old days, going out to pick eggs ( the nests were on the floor). When we'd kneel down to pick the eggs, those big ol' toms would jump up on our backs an peck us and slap away with their big ol' nasty wings. It was rough. We got to eat all chips and cracks. Eggs of some sort for every meal. At first we thought we were really living it up. After awhile it was " eggs again'!!!! Thankfully we were only there for 2 yrs. Woody
