We get those big ones all the time! In 3 years we've only had 1 double yolk. We have Barred Plymouth Rocks, Comets, Araconas, 1 Hampshire Red, and a few mixed breed of the above. No idea who lays the big ones!

Windy, did you try to hatch that double yolked egg? Or did you just eat it? I am hoping this develops as a double yolk with 2 babies. I'd love to try that and see how it goes. Its from my adult LF pen, and they are all pure chickens in there, but all different breeds, so I'd love to see what the chick(s) would look like anyways.

I just took pics of the giant egg when I candled it. I do see different things inside it, just not clearly, as its a brown egg. But here is what's on 1 side, and it was moving!

Here is what I saw on the other side:

So I'm still not sure what's going on inside....I can't see veins, but many times I can't on the brown eggs and only know is a chick when I see it move around inside...
Anyone know what's going on in it? We're on day 8 by the way.

When I candled it last night, I saw a blob moving, and another blob on the opposite side...not sure if it was another chick or the other part of the first chick...the mystery continues...
