Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Mornin Ladies! A night of sleep will do wonders for my mood, that's for sure.

Got some of my blue birchen girls posted for ya Kim, to go with my black birchen girls. The blues certainly have more work to be done as they are from a different breeding, but am pleased with where I'm at so far, especially on the leg feathering. Last year I had only one birchen girl with light feathering, all the rest were totally clean legged. Certainly can't complain with what I've got in the growout pens. Will try to get more photos of some of the younger birds over the next few days.

Looks like both are in Nashville..... maybe the other is out for delivery... which is OK. We are taking the 3 yr old to the Dr today and will be home after the mail runs....

I think I will set them tomorrow.

Pretty pullet too.

Thank you Flgarden!!!! Second round with Giant Pumpkins is going good so far....looks like every seed is cracking. YAY!!!

Here is the other little Splash pullet. Now it may look as though she is clean legged, but she is not. Don't know what happened but she hatched with nicely feathered shanks and now only has stubble. Notice how much lighter and more pale her leg color is in comparison to the other Splash pullet.

Oh and yesterday must have been the preening day around here.....everytime I snapped photos, every bird was either pulling their head back around from preening or preening the wing area or something so if they look a little off....it's because of that.

lovely! This year splashes are sparse in the chicks, so its good to see you have one so nice to play with!

Thanks....I have 2 little splashy pullets to play with. *SMILES HUGE*
(Pink loves the little Splash babies!!!!)

No....no copper yet on any of them!!!!!!!!! I'm sure they will show something pretty soon. They hatched in March so we will see.
