March Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Eh the breeds will be adjusted over time as needed for my end goal.
It definitely will have Breese, Favororelle and likely light Brahma. It's more of a docile but pretty meat bird I'm looking to make. :) It's just in the beginning stages.

Those are all good choices towards your goal!

ETA: I know a lot of people say Breese, but isn't the breed Bresse? I tried to hatch some a while back but I only had 6 shipped eggs and they all failed.

:cool:Wow that sounds really cool. Must google;)

Here's one from the Greenfire Farms website. I started with 11 shipped eggs and am down to 5. Super nervous about the hatch.

I've seen it spelled both ways. I think the direct french variety is for sure spelled Bresse but the American version is often spelled Breese for easy clarification. Could be totally off on that, though.
I order a total of 24 eggs, 12 white Breese/Bresse (One arrived broken), 6 Swedish Flower hens and 6 Hen's choice. The two Mosicas were of the hen's choice. I want to say the one iffy I can't recall the bred of is a Maran like mentioned above Berchen or something? I didn't see any movement or for sure fullness in there but it is so freaking dark I'm just not sure on it.

Next year, if possible I'll get some dark Cornish to add in as well, but need very dominant feathered feet to make sure that gene is kept. Looking into Dorking as well.

I absolutely love Dark Cornish. I wanted them for a long time but I'm not sure if they would work well with my project. I have a meat line too.

I'm so excited! It's Day 19 for me, and I just hatched my first silkie X ameraucana cross! I'll post pictures once my little ones have dried off and fluffed out, but I can tell you that the baby has black skin, slate or black legs, 5 toes, feathered legs and is so adorable. I'm in love. :) This cross resulted from my very handsome black silkie male and one of my Ameraucana hens (not sure if it was the blue, wheaten or silver girl yet).
