March Hatch-A-Long

Probably a silly question... but are the monthly "hatch-a-longs" for when you set the eggs or when they hatch?

I just set some eggs yesterday. So I set them in March but they will hatch in April. I don't see an April hatch-a-long other than the Easter one, which I'm too early for...

Anyway, just looking to follow along with other hatching right now.

It can be either, but the monthly threads do tend to slow down once a new month starts. You can hang out with us here or start an April thread or both. You can also check out the Easter hatchalong thread, which is probably going to dominate the month of April.

Oh so cute! They have such sweet faces!


I finally got the humidity to 64% with the last piece of sponge but by the time I got home a couple hrs later the humidity is back down to 55%. I dropped a few drops of water onto the sponge (I have it below the air hole and it’s back up. This is going to be a problem during the night though.

The opened egg died. Went to check on it and it had goo falling out of the opened bit. I feel really bad now. He was alive when I opened the egg.

BUT. While I was taking him out I saw something else.

No. I didn't drill that hole. Baby did it on his own.

Oh my word, I could die of excitement. My little lilac turkey is starting to zip.

(That air cell line was from day 7. It was very drawn down by lock down.)

Gahk! I just realized my pipping baby pipped on the wrong end. He's trying to pip on the small side.

It could be fine so good luck! Just watch and see. I had 3 hatch perfectly fine from the wrong end on my last hatch. This hatch I assisted but only when I was sure they weren't going to progress.

Here's a picture of a wrong end egg in my last hatch. Notice the air cell lines.

I pulled out my other incubator that has the turner for it yesterday from it's box, and got it going. Today, in went 12 Naked Neck/Breese egg's from my flock, and 7 more Silkie egg's that I got through a local friend.
