MAY Hatch-Along!!!! Let's do this!!!

Well I have 7 Welsh Harlequin with staggered dates in the bator. I also have one lone Call (others died ) I am going to check on these as well as start some calls.....we will see.....

I have 24 Silkies and 5-6 Copper Marans hatching next week. They are my "feel good" eggs. I can seem to hatch them somewhat better than the ducks (hope I didnt just jinx them!)

Anyone know what it means when a duck bobs it head? My 1 week old Mallard and 1 week old Swedish/Muscovy mix are bobbin their heads like crazy, and my other 2, 1 week old Mallards aren't. I also have a 13 week old Mallard and a 9 week old Pekin that are bobbing their heads while my other 3, 9 week old Pekins aren't.

I know for sure my 13 week old Mallard is a hen. Does it mean the others that are bobbing their heads are hens also?

My Calls go in to lockdown on the 9th and should start to hatch the 12th. I didn't plan on making any holes at lockdown, but I will sure let you know how the hatch goes.

It is!!! I can't believe how time flies! I candled last night just to see what I could see, and most of the eggs are so full that I couldn't see anything at all. And, there were two last night that had their eggs wiggling some while they moved around inside. So exciting!

They are laying flat. I didn't know whether to put them on their ends or leave them on their sides for the egg carton, so I just left them be. There are only 11 eggs in a Hova Bator 1602N, so maybe they have enough space to get hatched without bothering one another.

Guess who forgot to write a hatch date on the calendar? Ooops, looked in the bator and there's a bill poking out of one of the eggs!

They are in the hatcher now, 5 of six moving. 3 of those pipped already.

Went home at lunch and I have had 3 silkies (buff, white and black) arrive. The next 24 hours is going to be fun!
